Nassau ↔ Lexington is a horse-country lane — Kentucky Derby weekend in early May drives the seasonal peak, but Keeneland sales (April and September), the Breeders' Cup, and steady year-round corporate traffic keep the route active in both directions.
Why this route
Lexington is one of the more niche but stickier U.S. lanes we fly. The thoroughbred industry — owners, trainers, bloodstock agents, Keeneland sales principals — generates concentrated, seasonal demand. Derby weekend is the marquee event; the Lear 60 is sized right for a typical owner-and-family party traveling with formal attire and luggage that doesn't compress into a commercial overhead.
Outside Derby, the corporate Lexington base is more substantial than non-Lexington operators realize — Lockheed Martin's footprint, Toyota's manufacturing presence in nearby Georgetown, and the University of Kentucky's research and medical complex all generate aviation demand. Keeneland's spring and fall yearling sales are the other reliable peaks.
Airport & FBO
Blue Grass Airport (KLEX) is the only practical arrival for Lexington. TAC Air operates the principal FBO at KLEX with full private-terminal services, including CBP clearance for international arrivals (which is what makes the direct Nassau flight workable on this lane).
Ground transfer from KLEX to central Lexington is 10 minutes; to the major horse farms in Versailles, Paris, or Midway, 20-30 minutes depending on location. The FBO concierge handles ground transport bookings.
On the Nassau end, all flights operate out of MYNN. Derby weekend demand pushes lead times — we recommend confirming charters at least 60 days out for the Saturday of the first weekend of May.
